Text portion 2 — Potlandia / Jointlandia

A man walks into a Portland beer bar in 2014 and orders a stout. The guy next to him says, "You dig stouts?" I say, yup. He says, "Well, then maybe you want to invest in our new marijuana dispensary business."

No LinkedIn. No elevator pitch. No detailed business plan. Just: "You like craft brews? Wanna sell weed?"

He shows me a spreadsheet promising millions. I'm thinking, "This is either brilliant or I'm about to fund someone's glass pipe collection." Two months later, I put money into the birth of Bridge City Collective's two brand-new shops.

Six months after that, I decided to chronicle the birth of legal cannabis via two photo books: Potlandia and Jointlandia. Here are 200 photos... and the original 2014 book copy.
